Parents speak up about teacher strike

SOUDERTON, Pa. - September 11, 2008 The teacher's union and the school board are far apart. The union wants an average salary increase of about 8.2 percent to put it on par with other school districts in Montgomery County.

The board is offering 2.5 percent.

Some parents say that during these tough economic times sacrifices need to be made.

Students are getting an extended summer vacation, but most seem to want to get back to education.

They say as the strike lengthens, uncertainty grows.

Both sides are expected back at the negotiating table Friday.
