20 injured in overnight bus, car accident - Philadelphia News

Philadelphia Police along with SEPTA police are investigating an overnight accident involving a SEPTA bus in West Philadelphia that injured 20 people. Police tell Action News that the driver of a car traveling on 51st Street struck the Route 21 bus forcing the bus off the road and into a tree in the 5100 block of Chestnut Street around 1:45 a.m.

20 people including the bus driver were taken to various hospitals for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the striking vehicle also received minor injuries; he was treated at a local hospital and will be charged with DUI.

At least 6 medic units were called to the scene to transport the injured to local hospitals.
