Beauty Bargains

Philadelphia, Pa.-September 22, 2008 Vera Blair has been a customer of Empire Beauty School for more than 3 years.

She says it's the best bargain in town to get her hair washed, set and deep conditioned!

"It was thirteen dollars," said Vera Blair of Northeast Philadelphia.

At a traditional salon the service would average at least fifty dollars - but yes, Vera pays just thirteen.

"The average consumer is saving about 75-percent," said Jennifer Indelicato with Empire Beauty School.

Empire Beauty School offers discounted rates because the services are done by students supervised by licensed instructors.

Check out these other deals at Empire: A haircut and style costs $8, and a full head of highlights starts at $20.

And a manicure and pedicure combo will cost you $18.

"It's a great savings," added Vera.

You'll also find great savings at the Jean Madeline Aveda Institute.

It has three locations in Philadelphia.

"Anything you'd find in a quality salon. Hair services, skin services, nail services," said Betsy West with Jean Madeline.

As Action News has told you before, the Aveda Institute is also a school that offers high-end services at an affordable rate.

"We're talking about a cut and blow dry for 16 dollars," added West.

And a viewer sent us this good Saving with 6ABC styling reminder.

To extend the life of your hair color without frequent trips to the salon - use over-the-counter products to touch up your roots.

And here's another tip: Ask your salon if it has any apprentices on staff. They're stylists in training and offer discounted services!
