LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) - September 23, 2008
Dr. Gary Kirchner was charged in February 2007 with unlawful use
of a computer and conspiracy for allegedly providing the password
to Lancaster Intelligencer Journal reporters while he was coroner.
He left office at the end of last year.
The 74-year-old Kirchner has been recovering from a severe blood
infection.
Prosecutors said five of the paper's reporters testified before
an investigative grand jury under a grant of immunity. At least
three of them reportedly said Kirchner provided them with the
password.
