October is Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog month

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - October 3, 2008

Adopting a dog from the SPCA usually costs much less than buying a dog from breeders.

The adoption fee is $125 for puppies under six months and $75 for dogs over six months. All adoptions include spay/neuter surgery, microchip, all necessary vaccinations through the first year and 45 days of ShelterCare pet insurance.

And the PSPCA says they have dogs that fit everyone's lifestyle needs. From purebreds to mixed breeds, puppies to adults. Some of the dogs are good matches for apartment dwellers, families with children or people who already have pets.

The PSPCA's Philadelphia adoption center is located at 350 E. Erie Avenue.
