YONKERS, N.Y. (AP) - October 2, 2008 A county police spokesman says a maintenance worker at Tibbetts
Brook Park in Yonkers had noticed the abandoned suitcase earlier
Thursday. The worker went to move the suitcase shortly before 4
p.m., partially unzipped it and saw a light-skinned man's leg
inside.
Police responding to the scene ordered the popular park
evacuated. Several soccer games were canceled as investigators
began searching the crime scene around the suitcase.
Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers covers 161 acres and is known for
its large public swimming pool and playing fields.
