In December 2007, he was convicted on charges of conspiracy to import 138,000 ecstasy pills into the United States.
Authorities say Dang headed an international Asian drug trafficking organization that smuggled large amounts of illegal drugs that had been manufactured in Canada. The drugs were then distributed to customers from Boston to Atlanta.
The case dates back to October 2006, when Pennsylvania State Police discovered 45,000 of the ecstasy pills during a traffic stop. Two co-defendants also in the car were sentenced to 30 years in prison.
