Police: Sisters rob sick sister

ELSMERE, Del. - October 15, 2008 - Police were called to a home in Wilmington on Wednesday for a fraud investigation.

When officers arrived, they contacted the 55-year-old victim, who was reported to be mentally and physically disabled.

The victim told police her two adult sisters stole a settlement check from her on June 17, 2008, while she was hospitalized for an undisclosed medical condition.

Then, investigators say, the sisters forged the victim's name on the back of the check and then deposited it into one of their checking accounts.

When the victim was released from the hospital, she contacted her sisters and discovered they had already cashed the check and spent the money.

The victim called police after the sisters refused to return the money and some personal property they had also taken from her while she was hospitalized.

Bernice Moses, a 50 year old female who resides in the 2100 block of Seneca Lane in Elsmere and Myrtle Baker, a 54 year old female who resides in the 400 block of Strathaven Court have each been arrested and charged. Both have been relased on $5,000 unsecured bail.
