Possible conviction for this beach no-no

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) - October 16, 2008

It's a criminal charge against a British pair in the Persian Gulf city.

Michelle Palmer and Vince Acors are accused of having sex on a public beach after meeting at an all-you-can-drink champagne brunch.

The couple denies they went all the way.

But even making out in public would violate the law in the United Arab Emirates.

While Dubai is sometimes called the Vegas of the Middle East, its legal culture is based on Islamic laws.

The Britons could get up two years in prison if convicted.
