NJ police officers stabbed

VOORHEES, NJ - October 17, 2008 - It happened around 6:00 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of Haddonfield-Berlin Road in Voorhees.

Voorhees Police say two narcotics officers, Officer Christopher Tomasco and Sergeant Carmen DelPalazzo were observing a drug transaction when they attempted to arrest a female suspect.

Police say the suspect, identified as 19 year old Lauren Mortellite of Voorhees, NJ stabbed Tomasco in his left hand and DelPalazzo in his right wrist.

She then stabbed herself in the neck.

Both officers are being treated for minor injuries at West Jersey Hospital in Voorhees.

Mortellite was taken to Cooper Medical Center with serious injuries.

Police also arrested a juvenile at the scene.

Mortellite faces aggravated assault charges.
