Nissan Motor Co. says it will cut auto production at two plants in Japan due to sluggish sales in the United States. Ikue Matsuura, a spokeswoman for Japan's third-largest automaker, said Tuesday the company will slash output of its Infiniti luxury models and the sport utility vehicles Murano and Rogue at its two domestic plants from November through March.

Nissan's sales in the United States dropped 37 percent year-on-year in September due to slowing demand as American consumers tightened their pursestrings amid the deepening financial crisis.
