A 30-year-old Elkton, Md., man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in a fatal daylight shooting near Newark. Jamie Ringgold entered the plea Tuesday, the day he was scheduled to go on trial for first-degree murder.

Ringgold admitted shooting 29-year-old Kevin Fields in February 2007 during an argument in the parking lot of the Old Pike Shops on Old Baltimore Pike in Bear. Ringgold was arrested months later in Florida.

Prosecutor Paul Wallace says the nature of the argument is unclear.
