Mars isn't attacking, really

Indiana's Ball State University is going to recreate the Orson Welles "The War of the Worlds" broadcast.

Back in 1938, the radio play sparked panic as some people thought aliens really had landed in Grover's Mill, N.J.

Indiana Public Radio General Manager Marcus Jackman doesn't think any 21st century radio listeners will be fooled by the actors.

The production will be performed before a live audience at Ball State and carried by Indiana Public Radio.

The Martians land at Ball State Thursday, the 70th anniversary of Welles' history-making show.
