Salt trucks mobilized in N.J.

TRENTON, N.J (AP) - October 28, 2008

Some parts of New Jersey are getting wet snow, forcing officials to reduce the speed limit on parts of the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway.

Turnpike Authority spokesman Joe Orlando says salt trucks are treating bridge decks on the turnpike between Interchanges 8 and 11.

There are flight delays at Newark Liberty International Airport.

An inch of rain has also fallen over parts of the state, fueled by an offshore storm.

A high wind warning is in effect for Monmouth, Ocean, Cumberland, Atlantic and southeast Burlington counties through 3 a.m. tomorrow. Forecasters say 30 to 40 mph winds could pack gusts to 60 mph.

A wind advisory is in effect for other parts of the state, where forecasters are predicting gusts up to 45 mph.

A winter weather advisory is in effect until 4 a.m. for Sussex County. Forecasters say up to 3 inches of snow are possible in the higher elevations.
