Hospital uses robot for lung operation

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - October 29, 2008 Dr. Paul Davis says the medical team used the DaVinci surgical robot to help make tiny incisions that allowed them to remove an entire section of a patient's lung. The procedure is called a robotic lobectomy.

Davis says the new technology causes less trauma to the chest area. The old method required a seven- or eight-inch incision between the ribs and was much more painful.
