When it comes to cold-relief, orange juice is good...but something may be better.
Mandarin oranges from Placer County, California.
A study by the U.S. Agriculture Department found that the mandarins contain 6 times more syn-ephrine - a natural decongestant - than any other citrus fruit.
Mandarin fan Joanne Neft personally raised the $16,000 for the study, because she knew they worked magic for her.
Neft says, "I always suspected the mandarins were pretty special, because every time mandarin season came around, I felt a lot better." The mandarin oranges help relieve stuffy noses from allergies, too. The study found that mandarins from other areas don't have as much synephrine. Neft says she's not done studying her "super citrus."
