1 dead in fatal NJ Turnpike accident

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - November 29, 2008 It happened at around 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning in the northbound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike in Cherry Hill.

A car traveling in the southbound lanes crossed over the median and crashed into a northbound vehicle head on.

Two people were trapped in two separate vehicles at the time of the accident.

The two victims were flown to Cooper Hospital in serious condition.

One other person was injured and taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.

The identity of the fatal victim is not being released at this time.

Details remain sketchy. New Jersey State Police are investigating.

Northbound lanes were closed for a time, but reopened by 3:00 p.m.
