Split Verdict in Fort Dix Trial

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - December 22, 2008

The verdict was read shortly before 1:30 p.m.

Action News' Cathy Gandolfo reports that all five of the suspects were convicted of plotting to kill U.S. soldiers, but all five were acquitted of attempted murder charges.

The eight women and four men on the panel told Judge Robert Kugler on Sunday that they expected to finish their work sometime Monday.

The five defendants, all foreign-born Muslim men who lived for years in the Philadelphia suburb of Cherry Hill, are charged with conspiring to kill military personnel and attempted murder. A complete listing of the suspects and the charges can be found by Clicking Here.

They would face life in prison if convicted on those charges. Their lawyers maintain none of the defendants were plotting anything.
