Firefighter injured in Harrington blaze

The State Fire Marshal's Office says a firefighter was injured and a family dog was killed during a fire at a home in Harrington. The fire was reported about 10 a.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of Bloomfield Road. The firefighter was hurt when he fell from the first floor into the basement. He was released from Kent General Hospital after getting treatment for minor burns and a shoulder injury.

Authorities say the fire started in the basement, but the cause is still under investigation.

Damage to the home was estimated at $75,000.
