Suspect arrested in Bensalem bank robbery

January 11, 2008 John Chiartas, 31, was identified when an anonymous caller contacted police. The caller identified Chiartas after observing a bank surveillance photo printed in the newspaper from last Thursday's robbery.

A taxi driver then called police, telling them that Chiartas requested a ride to a location in Bensalem.

Detectives were able to locate Chiartas, taking him into custody.

Police say he eventually admitted to robbing the bank because he needed money to eat and support his drug habit.

Chiartas is charged with Robbery and related offenses.
