Cashing in with YouTube

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - February 2, 2009

But unlike most, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln freshman is making money from his videos.

Brown figures he made between $10,000 and $12,000 last year.

And his online income is growing.

He tells the Lincoln Journal Star newspaper it all started with a video on how to solve a Rubik's Cube.

People went nuts.

Part One scored nine million hits.

His second had five million views.

Brown's videos attracted so much attention, YouTube invited him to be an online partner sharing ad revenue.

Brown says he'll use some of his money for a university-sponsored trip to China.
