Man with cerebral palsy slain in home

PITTSBURGH (AP) - February 5, 2009 Police say 58-year-old Darryl Crosby was found dead on the floor of his apartment Wednesday afternoon by his building manager and a maintenance man. They were asked to check on Crosby by a caregiver who was unable to contact him.

The caregiver, Arneitta Warfield, says Crosby had cerebral palsy. She referred to the scooter Crosby used to get around as his "Little Red Mercedes" because it made him visible as he traveled throughout the city.

Police aren't saying if someone forced their way into Crosby's apartment, nor if they have a motive or a possible suspect.
