Man charged with punching 2-year-old

The man who put a 2-year-old child in critical condition was in court Friday.Sean Holcombe was arraigned and charged with aggravated assault and related charges. He is jailed on $500,000 bail.

His preliminary hearing is set for February 17th.

The incident happened around 2:00 p.m. Thursday inside a house on the 400 block of Pusey Avenue in Collingdale.

Police say Holcombe was caring for his girlfriend's daughter when the child became agitated while sitting on a countertop.

That's when police say Holcombe punched the girl in the face, knocking her off the counter, and down to the floor.

Police say the punch coupled with the fall resulted in the girl suffering severe head trauma.

She was rushed to Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital, but later transferred to Children's Hospital.

Police say Holcombe, who's been dating the child's mother about eight months, faces aggravated and simple assault charges, as well as child endangerment.

Police say Holcombe watches the child during the hours the mother is at work.
