Wildwood sues neighbors over police training

February 23, 2009 5:47:47 AM PST
The shore community of Wildwood says two other New Jersey towns owe it for training police officers.

Every spring, the resort doubles the size of its police force - and pays about $4,000 to train each new hire.

Other towns are supposed to reimburse Wildwood if they hire any of the new officers within two years.

Wildwood officials now say that Washington Township in Gloucester County and Haddon Township in Camden County have dodged that duty.

So Wildwood is suing them both.

Washington Township is offering to repay part of the costs.

A lawyer for Haddon Township says he's looking into the issue.
