Water main break floods Reading street

READING, Pa. (AP) - March 4, 2009 The water rushing by Reading High School is blamed on a 12-inch water main that broke shortly before noon Tuesday, cause unknown.

Police cordoned off Windsor Street in front of the school until Reading Area Water Authority crews could stop the stream of water at about 4 p.m.

Meanwhile, the school had its own problems. A hot-water pipe broke and flooded a classroom and part of a hallway near the main office. Workers shut off the pipe and the school didn't have to be evacuated.
