Jersey shore holds line on beach fees

SHIP BOTTOM, N.J. - April 6, 2009- Officials in the six towns on Long Beach Island are holding the line.

Long Beach Township Mayor Joseph Mancini says everyone is trying to keep costs down. Mancini, who also own a real estate company, says previous summer renters are booking properties later than usual because they're worried whether they'll still have jobs.

Margate has decided to make beaches free on Thursdays. Ventnor is considering the idea as well.

Wildwood beaches in Cape May County are free all summer.
