Police are looking for a man who they say impersonated an officer in a south Jersey retirement community. Gloucester Township police say the man, who identified himself as "Detective Bill," told a resident of Shenandoah Village that he wanted to conduct a safety check to prevent possible burglaries.

Police say the man displayed a silver badge around his neck.

Police say the man did a short inspection with the resident and told the victim he would return later.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5-feet 8-inches tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing dark clothing.
