Satellite tracking data shows plenty of fishing boats around a scallop boat that sank in March off Cape May, killing six crew members. What it can't show is the answer to a nagging question a fisheries manager has been wondering about: Why didn't anybody come to help?

Information from tracking devices on board dozens of boats in the area where the Lady Mary sank on March 24 was introduced into evidence Wednesday at a Coast Guard inquiry.

Bill Semrau, who manages boat tracking for the National Marine Fisheries Service, says charts indicate none of the vessels in the area changed position to assist the stricken boat.

The panel is looking into why the boat went down, including whether or when any emergency call went out.
