MILLTOWN, Del. (AP) - May 11, 2009
The bear was taken from the Delcastle Driving Range late Tuesday
or early Wednesday. Police say a passerby called 911 on Saturday to
report seeing the figure in a parking area of Middle Run Park.
Driving range workers retrieved the figure, which was missing
its left paw.
Driving range manager Peter Thien says the polar bear weighs
about 120 pounds and is worth $800 to $1,200.
Last year, a 10-foot giraffe figure was stolen from the range
and returned several days later with two ears missing.
Police say the Midway Softball Complex nearby was vandalized and
ransacked the same night the bear was stolen.
