Ex-Rep. Veon due in court in corruption case

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - May 21, 2009 The hearing Thursday for former Rep. Mike Veon and his one-time aide Annamarie Perretta-Rosepink in Harrisburg will determine if there's enough evidence against them to send the case to county court for trial.

Prosecutors say the pair illegally diverted millions of dollars through the now-closed Beaver Initiative for Growth. Their lawyers have insisted they're innocent.

Veon and Perretta-Rosepink are also awaiting trial in the separate but related case. In that case, 12 people associated with the House Democratic caucus were arrested last July.
