Mrs. Fixit: Annuals

June 28, 2009

Buy your flowers as close to your planting day as possible, you don't want them sitting around for days in their little cell pots. If you do have to leave them for a day or two make sure you keep them watered and in a safe location.

Most annuals like a lot of sun, so make sure that you plant them where they'll thrive, this will ensure they do well through out the season.

Once you've planted your flowers water the soil well. You want the soil moist deep under the plants so that the roots will reach deep for the water and become established faster.

When you're watering annuals focus on the soil, try to keep the blooms and leaves dry. Too much water can knock down your blooms and wet leaves are a breeding ground for disease.

Deadhead your flowers whenever you see a bloom past its prime. Pinching off those dead flowers will encourage new blooms and it'll make your plants look even better.

Easy steps you can take to make sure your annuals look their best! Im Mrs. Fixit and it's just that simple.
