Body found in Fairmount Park

FAIRMOUNT PARK - July 1, 2009 The discovery was made near Ford Road and Chamounix Drive near the tennis courts.

There is a paved jogging trail that runs parallel to Chamounix Drive. Off of the trail are a pair of tire tracks that lead about 25 yards back into a grassy area. That's where police say a couple of joggers made the gruesome discovery.

The victim was found lying in the grass, face up. He had been shot multiple times in the chest and head.

Police say there was no identification on the man. He is described as black male in a pink sweat suit wearing a blonde wig.

Police say there were no shell casings around the body, which indicates several scenarios: He was shot somewhere else and dumped in the park, he may have been shot in the car and then placed on the ground, or the shooter picked up the shell casings before leaving the scene.

At this point police are left with a complete mystery. Right now they are operating on the theory that this might have been some sort of sexual encounter gone bad.

The investigation continues.
