Seth Griffith is the man police are pursuing for a sexual assault of a teenage girl in Lower Providence Township. Detectives with Lower Providence Police searched a home on the 500 block of Haws Avenue Wednesday searching for the sexual assault suspect, Seth Griffith.

He wasn't home and now the manhunt has begun.

Police say Seth Griffith is the man in the surveillance video who preyed on a teenager and attempted to rape her in her own home.

"Our investigation has determined that Griffith has left the area and may be in Lewistown, Pennsylvania area," Lt. Stan Turtle of the Lower Providence Police said.

Authorities in the remote area west of Harrisburg are now searching for Griffith.

Action News went to his Norristown home which he shares with his mother Rose.

She was visibly shaken by the allegations against her son and apologized to the victim.

"This isn't my son, I don't know what brought him to that point," Rose Griffith said.

It was around 5:00 p.m. Monday night when police say Griffith followed the victim through a Wal-Mart store on Trooper Road.

He got in his silver car and followed her a few miles to her Audubon home.

He then entered the house through an unlocked door.

"I thought it was my dad, I was in my room and went to go check and he was standing right there," the victim told Action News.

Officials say after sexually assaulting the victim, Griffith ran off.

Investigators would only say Griffith has connections to the Lewistown area.

They believe he may be hiking in the woods to elude authorities.

"Charges of criminal attempt at rape, sexual assault, burglary and other related charges are being filed," Lt. Turtle said.

At least one detective with Lower Providence Police will head to Lewistown tomorrow to help capture Seth Griffith.
