Grenade scare in Philadelphia

Police and the bomb squad were called out in Southwest Philadelphia for a report of a man with grenade.It happened around 2:00 p.m. at 70th Street and Grovers Avenue.

Police got a report of a man who allegedly stole a UPS package from a neighbor's front step.

Officers responded, and noticed the man carrying the package down the street.

Police also say he was carrying what appeared to be a grenade.

A responding officer was able to get the grenade away from the man. The bomb squad then arrived and found ou the grenade was inert.

The 34-year-old male was taken into custody and will face theft and related charges.
