Md. waste hauler sold to NJ company

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) - August 14, 2009 The companies didn't disclose the purchase price. The Cumberland Times-News reported Friday that Howell's nearly eight-acre property was sold for about $1.2 million, according to state tax records.

Brian Howell says the deal included a sister company, Kight Sanitation, at the same site in Cumberland.

He says Kight and Howell had a total of 32 employees.

Interstate Waste Services Vice President Lynn Johnston says the change of ownership should have no affect on employment.
