Retired NJ police officer gets $363K

Retirement will be sweeter for a New Jersey police officer thanks to a grandfathered provision of his contract. Parsippany Police Lt. Edward Wall will receive $363,245 over the next 2 1/2 years for 553 unused sick, vacation and personal days.

Wall, who retired July 30 after nearly 30 years, is on terminal leave through year's end. He's being paid $57,830 for his first 88 unused days.

Parsippany eliminated unlimited accrual of vacation days in 1999, but that did not affect time already credited within the department
