The state Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has charged Orphilio Chaviano with 114 counts of animal cruelty. The Old Bridge resident is accused of possessing, training and selling fight birds.
NJSPCA spokesman Matt Stanton says officials believe Chaviano was getting the birds from outside the United States and was shipping them out of the country.
The NJSPCA has taken possession of the birds.
