Double homicide in Cobbs Creek

COBBS CREEK - August 29, 2009

Police were called to the 5500 block of Delancy Street shortly before noon, but once they entered the home in question, it didn't take them long to determine what happened.

Captain James Clark describes what investigators found.

"Once they got inside of the property, in a second floor bedroom, they found two bodies, a 20-year-old black female, and a 21-year-old black male," Captain Clark said.

Detectives at the scene say the victims were duct taped and shot execution-style.

While police say the couple had a history of volatile confrontations, they do not believe that has any connections to the crimes. Instead, they think this may have been a home invasion that turned deadly.

The house was ransacked, but investigators can't or won't say what was taken.

One woman says the 21-year-old man grew up on the block and was always respectful to seniors; she added that her air conditioner and fan prohibited her from hearing any gunshots.

"We don't have that type of our violence on our block, we have a lot of elderly citizens, and we try to be a close-knit block," neighbor Rosyln Sample said.

Police are not releasing the names of the victims yet.
