Del. offers amnesty to tax scofflaws

DOVER, Del. (AP) - September 1, 2009 The amnesty period begins Tuesday and runs through Oct. 30. State officials say they believe it has been more than 25 years since the state has offered a tax amnesty.

Delaware officials hope to gain about $10 million in revenue that otherwise might be lost.

Those who come forward and file past-due returns or have an underreported liability may pay their taxes in full or enter into an approved payment plan. Payment plans must be satisfied by June 30, the end of the fiscal year.

Participants will have their tax balances waived for all years filed before 2004.
