Police say the man lived in the neighborhood, and walked to a patch of land that happened to be on school grounds. He shot himself with a low caliber gun.
The elderly man was flown to a St. Luke's hospital and was last reported in critical condition.
The incident happened at 11:08 a.m.
There are no reported injuries at the school.
