9-year-old honorary firefighter

VOORHEES, NJ - September 5, 2009 9-year-old Ashawn Brewer is set to be an honorary firefighter and he's ready for the best parts of the job.

"Spraying people with a hose and getting people wet," Ashawn said.

Ashawn lives at the Voorhees Pediatric Facility and is known for keeping his firefighting friends in line.

"He busts our chops, he knows the dates we're supposed to be here and if we're not he lets us know," Al Coppolino of the Voorhees Fire Department said.

The rookies got wet first, but even the department veterans weren't safe. Like a pro, Ashawn even launched a sneak attack on one unsuspecting firefighter.

Large laughs were all around, even from Ashawn when it's his turn to get wet.

The smiles last more than just a day.

"He will talk about it until they come next time," Dana Greer of the Voorhees Pediatric Facility said.

No doubt about that.
