19 questioned in slingshot incident

DARBY, Pa. - September 8, 2009 The incident happened a little before 10:00 p.m. Sunday in the unit block of North Third Street.

The street is in the area that borders Philadelphia and has been under a state of emergency curfew for five days.

Police were enforcing the curfew -- which starts at 9:00 P.M. and is not lifted until 6:00 A.M. -- when someone fired a metal ball from a power slingshot from the second floor window of a home on North Third.

The ball took out the rear window of the patrol car but did not injure the police officer in the car.

Immediately after the incident, police had indicated that a gunshot was fired at the patrol car, but later said the weapon used was a power slingshot.
