The crash occurred on northbound I-495 near Edgemoor Road around 3:15 p.m. Sunday.
Authorities say it appears that the motorcyclist lost control and hit the back of a car.
Cpl. Peter Small of New Castle County paramedics says the man was taken to Christiana Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
