DREXEL HILL, Pa. - September 14, 2009
Pat Meehan announced his candidacy Monday. He resigned last year
from his position as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of
Pennsylvania. The Republican will look to replace Sestak in the 7th
Congressional District.
Sestak is giving up the seat to launch a primary challenge
against Democratic Sen. Arlen Specter.
Meehan served as the district attorney for Delaware County
before being named to the federal prosecutor position in 2001.
