Storm erodes disputed dune in Cape May

CAPE MAY, N.J. (AP) - September 16, 2009

Last week's storm eroded a 15-foot high sand dune that has blocked the view of the ocean for patrons of the Cove Restaurant in Cape May.

The dune was created in 1999 to protect the shore. But as it grew higher, the restaurant owner wanted it removed so diners could see the waves.

High winds and strong waves whipped by the storm reduced the dune. Patrons will have a view until the shifting sand builds it back up.
