DEWEY BEACH, Del. - September 18, 2009 Police say 42-year-old Ramiro Pereira of Bethlehem, Pa., was
driving south on Coastal Highway early Friday morning when he
almost hit an officer working an unrelated traffic stop.
Bethany Beach police put down spike strips but Pereira, who was
allegedly swerving back and forth, turned to avoid them. At one
point police say Pereira stopped, but took off as officers
approached his car.
After Pereira nearly hit an Ocean View officer's car head-on,
police say he was stopped and taken into custody.
