Flames gutted the basement and first floor of the home, located on the 6200 block of Castor Avenue.
A 37-year-old woman and her 12-year-old son yelled for help from an upstairs window. Firefighters used ladders to perform the rescue.
The victims were taken to Einstein Hospital for smoke inhalation.
The fire was placed under control.
No word on what sparked the blaze.
