Police: Driver ran woman over twice

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - September 24, 2009 It happened around 2:11 a.m. on Saturday in South Philadelphia.

Police say Kamilah El-Amin was leaving bar after closing with three of her friends when Duane Crump, 22, drove by. According to investigators, there was a verbal confrontation between the women and Crump.

Then, investigators say, Crump drove at a high rate of speed toward the women, striking El-Amin. Then, police say, he put his car in reverse and ran over El-Amin again.

She was taken to the hospital, and died on Monday.

Police say Crump is now at large. Initially, he fled his vehicle and was arrested by officers. However, at the time, Crump was only charged with aggravated assault, and was allowed to go free on bail.

Since that time, police say, El-Amin died and more information came to light, leading to the murder charges. However, Crump has since vanished and police are asking for the public's help in finding him.

The D.A. has approved murder charges against Crump.
