Family loses 3 in Delaware crash

FRANKFORD, Del. - October 3, 2009 A Volvo tractor trailer was going northbound on US 113 approaching the Daisey Street intersection just before 7:00 a.m.. At the same time, a Honda Pilot was westbound on Daisey Street approaching the intersection with US 113.

The driver of the Honda, Brett Pierce, 46, of Wilmington, failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection. As a result, the tractor trailer, driven by Calvin Davis, 43 of Kittrell, North Carolina, struck the driver's side of the Honda Pilot.

Brett Pierce's wife Alison, 50, and son Jimmy, 12, died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

The lone survivor Brett and Allison Pierce's daughter Megan Pierce, 16, sustained a broken wrist along with other non-life threatening injuries. Margaret was transported via Delaware State Police helicopter to Christiana Hospital.
