Last day to register to vote in PA

HARRISBURG, Pa. - October 5, 2009 The top race is a battle for an open seat on the state Supreme Court. Democrat Jack Panella and Republican Joan Orie Melvin, both judges on the Superior Court, are vying for that seat.

The Election Day ballot also features statewide contests for four openings on the Superior Court and two on the Commonwealth Court.

And voters in hundreds of municipalities will be electing county judges, mayors and other local offices.
